Slat Widths for Faux Wood Blinds

Faux wood blinds are available in a variety of slat widths and in order to determine the best right widths for your home, you need to consider the size and depth of your window as well as your light requirements.

Much like traditional wood blinds, most faux wood blinds come with standard 2” slats that are well suited for conventional size windows. Even tall narrow windows look great with 2” slats, giving them the warm appeal of shutters both inside and out.

Although conventional blinds can work well on normal windows, those same blinds can look small and busy on very large windows. In order to balance out the size of a large window, you may want to choose a faux wood blind with 2 1/2” slats. Fewer wide slats are needed in order to cover the window, keeping the blinds looking proportional to the window frame.

Remember, though, that wide slats take up more room when tilted open so you'll need to take into consideration the depth of your window and the foot traffic in that area of the house. Either way, faux wood blinds are incredibly durable and can work well in any room in your home.
